Where are you most comfortable?

Posted on May 13th, 2009 by Amanda : Inspirational Writer Amanda
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 09, 2009:

I am most comfortable when I am at home; whether that be by myself, or with my family. I tend to be a little resereved any where else I am. When I am at home, however, I feel most like my true self.

Home is where my heart is.

For someone to be me for halloween;  it would take comfortable clothes,  and a brain transplant.... thereby, making it impossible.

What was the last letter you sent?

Posted on Sep 26th, 2008 by Amanda : Inspirational Writer Amanda
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 25, 2008:

The last letter I sent was called "A picture is worth a thousand words." This was a letter that I wrote to my father, out of all my bottled up feelings, and thoughts about the situation our family was going through.

My father's job was in sales management (this was in 2006), and it must have taken a toll on his nerves. It just seemed like he'd snapped. One thing I had noticed was that he had become so tense, all the time. Soon, behind our backs, he began staying out late; drinking, and doing drugs. Needless to say, my mother became suspicious, and pretty soon, she and I knew what was going on.

The letter I wrote was nearly 1,000 words. I just kept on writing, and writing as my emotions spilled out onto the page. I wrote of how he used to be, and how I missed that person. I wrote of how things were at that point in time, and asked why they were that way. Countless lines of raw, uninhibited thought.

I believe that my dad was about to go to a rehabilitation center when I was writing this letter. I tried to count the number of words on every line and add them up...not feeling like I was finished, but knowing he would soon leave; I printed off one of the few pictures I could find of him on our computer (with the caption: a picture is worth a thousand words.)

And with that, I put the letter into an envelope, and I handed it to him. After that, I think I went upstairs and felt somewhat relieved after emptying my mind onto the many pages of that letter, but still angry, sad, confused, torn..and really any other negative emotion you can think of.

Before he left, one thing he said stood out to me. "You're very good at expressing yourself when you write." As a matter of fact, that may have been the only thing he said to me before he left for the rehabilitation center.

-It's actually kind of ironic that I am writing on this subject. Today he was out with a business partner/family friend. He called from his cell phone to ask me to check the e-mail really quick. I accidentally logged out instead hitting the e-mail link, the phone still to my ear. I could hear their conversation- and only one thing made me grin. He said something like "this is great, it's been 2 years to today that I've been out of that rehab."

And I am happy to report, that I will never find myself in the position to write that type of letter again.

What does Autumn mean to you?

Posted on Sep 23rd, 2008 by Amanda : Inspirational Writer Amanda
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 23, 2008:

Generally, I would say that my favorite season is Summer. But when Autumn comes around, then I would have to say that it is my favorite time to be outside, in  the crisp air. I love the smell of bon fires and burning leaves. The trees change color, and it is one of the most beautiful times of the year. (besides, of course; winter, spring, and summer) :)

As the season is changing, so am I. This Autumn, I am beginning a new chapter in my life. I am off to college tomorrow. A little over-excited and, yet, nervous at the same time.  Really, I couldn't ask for a better time to start something new in my life.   :)
